Bangsamoro: The Moro Homeland

Image
In the existence of diversity, we cannot deny the fact of idealism that separates each culture from one another. The Philippines for one is a multi-cultured archipelago enriched with religious beliefs and customs, and that hasn’t changed as far as history can remember. There is however one speck in the history that is worth remembering by our fellow countrymen - the undying peace talk between the Philippine Government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.               Liberation in its political context is over rated by socio-economic interest, the oppressed, and the hungry for power, thereby creating conflict that leads to upholding of armed forces causing chaos. The peace talk in Mindanao depicts the controversy of the stronghold of the Moro people protecting their homeland. The evolution of this controversy is basically rooted upon the heart of the Islam community who became the minorities of the region after nurturing the lan...

Memoirs. Nostalgic. Innocence. Today I write about childhood, a childhood that was at the very least was a part of everyone’s happiness. I am pretty sure that I started to talk when I was 3 because my first memory of someone asking me a question is about my age and I always say 3. I used to play with the little boys in town, I never had Barbie or teddy bear to hug when I sleep, and my hair was never long so I thought – I must be a boy? We lived in a swampy piece of land nearby the Church, and every time I hear the bells ring, I thought another wedding is about to happen and I wish I could see the bride walking down the aisle. I love going to church because I had the chance to buy my favorite cotton candy - the pink one, even until now actually J  Every afternoon we fly kite with my sister nearby the swamp and that was the time when I had to learn how to whistle, otherwise I don’t get the wind to blow my kite. I love to shower in the rain, it’s the only time I exper...

Green jokes ang Peg  It was my first time in Badian Beach and I love the peaceful white beach, it reaches the far south side of Cebu that is why you can see the Negros mountains .. amazing!   My favorite part is going to Kawasan Falls, though we weren't able to climb up to the 2nd and 3rd falls we had a great wacky time underneath the splashing waters... Tayo ay tuldok lang

Cebu. 10.15.13 8:12 AM MLA. It was a fine weather when I was on my home from an over night shift. In a few seconds I thought a plane was about to crash when I saw the people staring upward while running inside their houses, but when I knew a magnitude 7.2 hit Bohol I tried to focus going home and praying that everything should be fine way back home. A few minutes later everyone was calm but some aftershocks went on shaking the grounds, until 3 more weeks we still feel some tremors. The last year's quake was most agonizing because I was 8 months pregnant and I have to do the evacuation 2 times that day... The funny part was when everybody has already gotten out of the building except for the pregnant woman who was struggling her way down at the fire exit, lol! that was the effect of adrenalin rush for normal people. In the afternoon a Tsunami false alert created a panic in the whole downtown, I was in the 5th floor while watching the people scrambling around like a disturbed col...

In a million droplets of rain

Chain Let’s sing a song A song that makes us sing Sing for life Life that makes us live Live to strive Strive to thrive Thrive from problems Problems to be challenged Challenge to success Success to be happy Happy forever Forever and ever...  During my corny days, I write poems like this... lol! It's raining hard lately, I think the Philippines will be wiped out in months from the archipelago if super mega duper storms keep hitting the country. It's 8:36 A MNL, I look outside the window and the row of houses stood still underneath the cold gray clouds, never ending pouring its wrath on the grounds. I hear the rooftops singing "tip tap" in a crooked tune of raindrops....

Repost: A woman's worth

Thanks Ellay for this very inspiring story (Author: unknown) hahaha!, I love it, specially the last part ... I miss you mang...   ~ mash ~ In a brief conversation, a man asked a woman he was pursuing the question:   “What kind of man are you looking for?” She sat quietly for a moment before looking him in the eye & asking, ‘Do you really want to know?’ Reluctantly, he said,”Yes.” She began to expound… “As a woman in this day & age, I am in a position to ask a man what can you do for me that I can’t do for myself? I pay my own bills. I take care of my household without the help of any man…or woman for that matter. I am in the position to ask, ‘What can you bring to the table?’” The man looked at her. Clearly he thought that she was referring to money. She quickly corrected his thought & stated, “I am not referring to money. I need something more. I need a man who is striving for excellence in every aspect of life.” He sat back in hi...

The lessons we keep from ourselves are the lessons that kills us the most. It kills us knowing that the time we spent to cherish a special moment with a special someone is destined to be wasted at the end of every line. Life is indeed an irony, you see, we look for that thing that could make us happy. It's human nature, we look for the things that aren't there, thus, it is what dreams are made of; the things that we think could make up our life cycle. Sometimes I rather don't dream at all and life might be easier I suppose, but no. When we were engaged in school our mentors often ask us "what do you want to become when you grow up?" and every year I answered differently, one time I want to be a ballerina because I've seen Barbie and the Nut cracker, hehehe! I asked my teacher " Why did you become a teacher?", I don't remember her answer anymore. When I finished high school I never even thought of an exact path I want to become because I was a fre...
