My Gallery

When I was about 5 I saw a butterfly in the garden, then I went inside my room to get my watercolor and started to draw that flying creature dancing with the flowers. It was a purple butterfly. I was hoping it was orange, but no, orange wasn't my favorite yet back then. During high school I had this dream of having my own exhibit. Well, funny yes, very dreamy, but I find it interesting. When I joined Circulo de Arte, an Art Club in the University, I finally had a chance to participate in an art exhibition held during the Xavier days. It's unfair for the freshmen to be the observers yet we were part of the committee to make errands, like duh, i would have guessed that was some sort of initiation. Waahhaa! At least half of my dream came true ~_^ plus the fact that I spent more time at the museum was something I could brag about.

So, this is it! My first Charcoal. It's not very attractive compared to the professional works, but I was hoping I was making sense apart form being a newbie, haha!

Politika

Dim: 2 x 1.5 ft. Charcoal. The exhibit's tittle was POLITIKA. I didn't know how to make a tittle on my piece, I didn't even know I have to make one so I just copied from the theme. I thought that was lousy, but nobody bothered anyway, so I guess that was OK. The theme depicts what politics is like, it may not be the usual politics we hear and see on the news but could be anything or anywhere justice is compromised. I had this passion for the children and I thought it would only be just if they were given the right education for their future. It sounds very corny but everybody sees that, I just don't know who is responsible for what to get kids out from the streets.

The soul is willing, but the body is weak

Dim: 3 x 2 ft. Oil Paint. My second piece is kind of I-don't-really-care-what-but-how, my first oil paint. My first oil paint, yehey, finally i got something from the tubes. Probably what inspired me painting this was when I had to do a lot of things, and they were so many I could just walk away and leave them undone, sigh... Especially when I was working as president of the JKA, I almost forgot I was a student that needs to finish laboratory experiment reports. By the way I cannot find the right insignia for my artwork, until now I just put my name on it. Well, nothing really special about it but they say it is important.

Earth is she

Dim: 4 x 2.5 ft. Oil pastel. This is my most expensive piece. Yeah, I should have known. I am a feminist and I believe in gender equality. The exhibit's theme is EVOLUTION, it is a compilation of artwork from past exhibits, but in my mentality I was curios what if the world evolves in a way where the sky was underneath the sea? I don't know, it's a crazy thought and I think nature doesn't have to explain why. I love that iguana in the picture.

Liberation from Within

Dim: 3.5 x 2.5 ft. Oil pastel on canvas. It took me 3 months to finish this work, because I used oil pastel on the canvas, plus my canvas wasn't really that good. I made this in 2005 and that was the time I realized I wanna get married. Be in love forever. I wanna get out of school and have a family on my own, but, social norms say to graduate first and then get a fine job, produce lots'a money and then get married for a secure life. If I could have been rich, I will not go to school, especially when I had no choice but to finish an engineering degree when I want to be a journalist. Then by the time I graduated, I understand the word sacrifice. At least I graduated, and I am out of school, yeeehhha!

A portrait

Dim: 2 x 1 ft. Pencil. nah, nothing really special about this drawing, other than making myself immortal. haha!

My Jelly Bean

Dim: 2.5 x 2 ft. Acrylic. My first acrylic in 2012. As soon as I stepped in to live a life in Cebu, I also stopped painting due to work loads, but after 5 years, I still have what it takes to be an artist. When I entered motherhood it is another turning point for me to take, yet I am not married but I will be in love forever. My first Acrylic, Yes!

Oh I almost forgot, I am writing a on a new year - 2013.
I'm hoping I could make one this year... A colorful New Year to all of yah! mwahuggers! :)
