Cebu Heritage Walk

Accenture Outdoor Club. 2.17.2013, this date really was not meant for me and my friend Cindy coz'  we were the lucky chance volunteers for the Cebu Heritage Walk... hahaha! Though our registration for the event wasn't confirmed there's no stopping us from joining the trip.. love the confidence level. lol! Along with us were Sly and Rea who are AOC official members, in short legit..hahaha!

The last time I had my field trip was during our senior year, parang time travel lang..ahaha! =))

To give you the highlights, first if all, was the very witty and smart tour coordinator Lester.. I love his energy, he was also there at the ARC run at the Plaza run and one of the leads at the Sinulog ACN beat where I first met him... The itinerary goes from our departure point at ebloc2 IT Park to Taoist Temple @ Lahug Cebu. Yeah, I know the place isn't that foreign  to me anymore because it's just like 5 minutes away from my apartment.. so when I get bored, I guess you know where I go..hahaha!  The first stop was a lamp post addiction, the temple was blazing red and the first thing I noticed were the lamp posts which reminded me of Harry Potter (weird ayt? T_T ).. So then I took lots of pictures of the lamp posts, duh! Oh by the way, I'm hating my phone right now but in fairness my phone cam is not really that bad at daylight  ~_^

Next stop was at the San Pedro Calungsod Chapel located in the South Road Properties. I'm impressed with it's modern architecture! The facade is like one of those Israeli town in the midst of the desert. The design makes the interiors very airy, the color combo is very light and what makes it unique is the composition of 100 walls with different height and width. That picture in the top left is the Templete, where the National Thanksgiving Celebration of the Canonization of Blessed Pedro Calungsod was held last November 30, 2012. Never mind me there, the real subject is the Saint behind me :)

Next stop was at the Parian Monument ( Lower left).

I was amazed when I heard that this part of Cebu has each museums only a block away from each other, what a bunch! I went quick round of pictures of the monument coz the heat of the sun was starting to hurt my nose, but I didn't mind, basta Go lang ng Go! =)) .... Cindy and I went to Yap San Diego Ancestral House and this part of the tour was the funniest... rofl! Due to hyper curiosity we went ahead to the house and took pictures as token of our visit. Had we known that this wasn't part of the itinerary, we should have stayed along with the group...hahah! The care taker asked if we've already paid the entrance fee and I told him with all confidence that somebody will have to pay for us, and that there were 40 of us who will visit. I can read from the reaction of his face saying " Holy F! malumpag man tingali ning ancestral house tungod sa kadaghan!" hahahaha! As soon as we knew that this wasn't part of the itinerary, we sneaked our way out without them noticing us... Whew! That was close T_T

The 1730 Jesuit House Museo de Parian (Lower right) was our next stop. The place is actually a museum inside a hardware store which makes it mysterious, and then who's  next in line was the Casa Gorordo. These places, they all look the same, duh!

We were supposed to stop by the Basilica Del Sto. Nino Museum, Fort San Pedro and the Cebu Malacanang due to time constraint we weren't able to... tsk3.

And finally the biggest frustration of all, we went to Lapu Lapu to visit Mactan Shrine but there was a city-wide event, I think it's a fiesta.. Well.. what ever that was, the bus turned its way back to Cebu... can you believe that? This trip isn't just free food  but free traffic and super heat wave. sheeeshhh!!!

So there. At the end of the day were happy faces. Thanks to ACN Outdoor Club... looking forward to the next outdoor gig.. as if official member.lolers!
